RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA

The International Parliament for Safety and Peace IPSP-WOS followed the meeting of Arab and Muslim leaders who gathered yesterday in Riyadh. They rejected Israel's argument of a right to "self-defense" in Gaza and called for the immediate suspension of military operations.

 The summit participants, the final statement reads, "refuse to describe this war as self-defense or to justify it on any pretext." The International Parliament for Safety and Peace IPSP-WOS then noted the words of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Antonio Tajani, who agrees and thanks for Italy's efforts.

 The minister also clearly observes: “We want this war to end as soon as possible. But we also want Israel to eliminate the Hamas terrorist groups. If Israel must continue military operations it will have to do so respecting international law, protecting civilian populations and organizing truces that can serve to release the hostages and protect the citizens of Gaza." “We hope – he adds – to interpret the aspirations, positions, even anxieties of these two peoples. For this reason, although it seems impossible today, we want to work on the 'two peoples, two states' formula. We have no alternative."

Le Parlement international pour la sécurité et la paix IPSP-WOS a suivi la réunion des dirigeants arabes et musulmans réunis hier à Riyad. Ils ont rejeté l'argument d'Israël selon lequel il existe un droit à la « légitime défense » à Gaza et ont appelé à la suspension immédiate des opérations militaires.

Les participants au sommet, indique le communiqué final, "refusent de qualifier cette guerre d'auto-défense ou de la justifier sous quelque prétexte que ce soit". Le Parlement international pour la sécurité et la paix IPSP-WOS a ensuite pris note des propos du ministre des Affaires étrangères, l'hon. Antonio Tajani, qui est d'accord et remercie pour les efforts de l'Italie.

Le ministre observe également clairement : « Nous voulons que cette guerre se termine le plus rapidement possible. Mais nous voulons également qu’Israël élimine les groupes terroristes du Hamas. Si Israël doit poursuivre ses opérations militaires, il devra le faire dans le respect du droit international, en protégeant les populations civiles et en organisant des trêves qui puissent servir à libérer les otages et à protéger les citoyens de Gaza. " "Nous espérons - ajoute-t-il - interpréter les aspirations, les positions , voire les inquiétudes de ces deux peuples. C'est pour cette raison que, même si cela semble impossible aujourd'hui, nous voulons travailler sur la formule « deux peuples, deux États ». Nous n'avons pas d'alternative.

Il Parlamento Internazionale per la Sicurezza e la Pace IPSP-WOS  ha seguito I'incontro dei leader arabi e musulmani che si sono riuniti ieri  a Riad. Essi  hanno respinto l'argomentazione di Israele di un diritto "all'autodifesa" a Gaza ed hanno chiesto l'immediata sospensione delle operazioni militari.

I partecipanti al summit, si legge nella dichiarazione finale, "rifiutano di descrivere questa guerra come autodifesa o di giustificarla con qualsiasi pretesto". Il Parlamento Internazionale per la Sicurezza e la Pace IPSP-WOS ha poi annotato le parole del Ministro degli Esteri On. Antonio Tajani, che condivide e ringrazia per gli sforzi dell'Italia.

Il ministro osserva inoltre con nettezza: “Vogliamo che questa guerra finisca al più presto. Ma vogliamo anche che Israele elimini i gruppi terroristi di Hamas. Se Israele dovrà continuare le operazioni militari dovrà farlo rispettando la legge internazionale, proteggendo le popolazioni civili e organizzando tregue che possano servire al rilascio degli ostaggi e alla protezione di cittadini di Gaza”. “Speriamo – aggiunge – di interpretare le aspirazioni, le posizioni, persino le ansie di questi due popoli. Per questo, per quanto oggi appaia impossibile, vogliamo lavorare alla formula ‘due popoli due Stati’. Non abbiamo alternativa”.
